Bad, bad BPA **A parent's must read post.**

This Bisphenol A stuff is frightening. As a parent & consumer, we should be outraged at the lack of news coverage (& don't get me started on our government doing nothing) about what is allowed into our plastics...especially the things our babies & children sup from most. Read a little.

Bisphenol A - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bisphenol A (abbreviated BPA) is an organic compound with the formula (CH3)2C(C6H4OH)2. Containing two phenol functional groups, it is a difunctional building block to several important polymers and polymer additives.[1] Bisphenol A has become controversial because it mimics estrogen and thus could induce hormonal responses.[2][3]

BornFree - Welcome to BornFree US

"...Bisphenol-A is an industrial chemical that is used to make polycarbonate plastic. Among other products, it can be found in clear plastic baby bottles, reusable water bottles, ... This has caused concern since bisphenol-A can leach out of the products and may affect human health...”
This quote comes from California Enviroment.org, but is found, along with many other scary articles on the BornFree page.
There is SO much out there about this dangerous, potentially cancer causing chemical. Please google it for yourself & educate others about it.

There are several safer alternatives for kiddos, so don't freak out yet! My personal favs are: Klean Kanteen (stainless steel), Foogo (ss, too), BornFree (BPA-free plastic), and small juice glasses, for when L is sitting down to eat "like a family." We tried some of the BPA-free Nuby, but the suction was too strong to get anything out of 3 out of 3 cups...different kinds of Nubies, too. We also tried the Boon, but had the same suction problem. Since L. successfully nursed for more than 2 1/2 years, I don't think he has any suction issue. :) I have heard of other moms loving the Nuby (and it is less expensive than my favs), but I haven't talked to anyone about the Boon cups. Here are some lovely reviews and links to buy safe kid stuff.

This "store" even has a listing of teethers & pacis.

We love our bornfree cups. If I were a bottle-feeding mama, I would shop here for my bottles.

This "chart" is easy to follow. There are lots of links, too.

Yet another review. Lots of links here, too.

I could go on and on...I get new info all the time (thanks, Kate, Leslie, & other mommies). Please click, read, & think about what we're putting into our bodies & our babies.

Yeah, totally scary. I've asked for all new klean kanteen water bottles for my b-day. It can't come soon enough!
