It's Phi....like your eye!

I'll never forget Amanda Mag teaching us to say, "Phi" correctly as we learned songs for rush. :) Girls, I think our "get together" is going to be Sat. morning-lunch in Decatur. I'll let you know once a place is chosen....any suggestions? I can't wait to see y'all!

Frank

Frank McCourt has passed. I'm a HUGE fan of his writing. I love his humor, wit, honesty & dialect. I'm always a sucker for perfect grammar with unusual (to me) dialects or words blended in. If you haven't read Angela's Ashes, do so. (But fair warning: it's a tear jerker.) Teacher Man & 'Tis are also by McCourt. Every educator needs to read Teacher Man. It's all good stuff in my opinion. The man could write...and had quite the story to tell. Cheers, Frank! I'm brewing some strong tea this afternoon in honor of you & your mom!

the grandparents are here!

My parents are here & helping...while Barclay travels down South with other Historians. There has been lots of fun, but not much time to blog. :) I'm going to go rest for a moment before the afternoon fun begins (& I have to pick up the house...& get ready to teach class...& maybe go to a movie. :)
Thanks, mom & dad!

prayer for the saga

Our class reunion has drummed up some drama. The saga continues until July 25th, when the parties take place. I haven't been directly involved in all of it, but since a friend & I worked to gather about 100 email address or other contact info, pick a locale or two, assign a date, time, (yes, pretty much everything) we were thrust into the middle. Anyway, so I've been "letting go" of frustration & anger bc as far as I have learned, being angry gives someone else power over you. I don't want anyone to have that kind of power over me. (Thanks, Pastor Eric for reminding me of this via sermons & conversations in G'ville.)
Also, I have reflected on being mean to people & how in the end there is no joy in that. Sure, one may find that "an eye for an eye" has it's moment of "feel good," but long after that there is pain for all, regret & an empty place where forgiveness needs to be. (Lots of reasons for "turning the other cheek"...)
So, in conclusion (as I take a break from mopping to ponder), I forgive you, those who are currently wronging me. I harbor no ill will. And I pray that you, too, know peace.
Amen.

Next we'll teach her "to your health!" She loves to do "deers!"

i scream, you scream

...we all scream for ice cream!
this post is about a month late, but the pix are so funny it's better late than never. i thought i could snap the pic of z "asleep with cone in hand," but she gave me the death stare when i first tried! (maybe bc i also tried to remove the cone?) anyway, about 5-10 min later she was out cold & i got the last shot. langston looks like he's going for a movie tryout with his fake goatee.

my wormy kids

This video was shot around Mother's day, so L. still has some shoulder length locks. I had to post it with the more recent one of Z. & her worm adventures.
My kids fear no critter. I usually have to hold L. back & remind him that we need to check & make sure the bug (or spider) isn't a "biter" one before we grab it.
The other day I dumped out my bag after harvesting at our co-op & a teeny-tiny spider came out, too...& then Z. grabbed it & popped it into her mouth. She swallowed it before I could finger-sweep the dude out! Ah, a little protein, I guess. :)
